We went on our weekend not really
knowing what to expect, but hoping to learn better
communication skills. What we "found" while on our
weekend were feelings that we had buried for quite
awhile. We have renewed love & excitement for our
relationship that we didn't even realize was missing.
Our experience is, already, being reflected in the
entire family. It's contagious - we want to pass it
on!
When we were dating - 12 years ago - I was
definitely in la-la land. I was so in love. This
weekend, I took a vacation back to la-la land. I felt
the same pitty-pat, hazy-in-love feelings again. It
was wonderful to ignite the flame again.
Our weekend helped us to rediscover God's purpose
for our marriage and our lives. The love that we have
to share has grown to a level that I never knew was
possible before.
The blessings that we received from the presenting
couples were awesome. We need loving role models in
our lives. I pray that we can share our love to other
couples.
The weekend was exhausting! I wouldn't say it was
even fun. . . it was one of the hardest things I've
ever done. I would do it again in an instant. These
lessons will be with us for a long, loving life.
Marriage Encounter changed my perspective on
marriage. I can share my feelings and do it in a
manner and in a way that doesn't threaten my spouse or
myself. It's OK to feel - and now, it's OK to express
them as well.
We were so blessed by our weekend. We felt a
closeness we hadn't experienced in years. When talking
to my friends I think my key experience was "I always
knew he loved me, but I didn't know how much he loved
me." Even after 25 years, you can feel the spark!
Marriage Encounter was so great for us in a number
of ways. We learned a new way of communicating. We
reconnected as a couple. But also very important to us
was being celebrated as a couple. As a young couple we
really hadn't yet found other couples and we needed
that support. Marriage Encounter has provided that
loving community for us.
